A project for Dales Housing which involved the remodelling of existing Sheltered Housing Officer's accommodation into a new house for special needs residents adjacent to a category 2 sheltered housing development in the Peak District National Park.
Accessibility for disabled tenants was greatly improved, with increased door sizes, accessible toilet facilities and a new wet room with level access at ground floor. We designed a new kitchen area with a communal dining space.
The project also included revisions to adjacent accommodation to suit, including the relocation of an existing office to an alternative under-utilised space providing a more accessible layout at a more central location. Cabling for warden call, door entry and telecommunications services were discretely re-routed and equipment was relocated into the new office space.
Externally, new disabled car parking facilities were provided within the existing landscaped grounds, which were reinstated on completion.
