This project for Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was part of the Trust's long-term plans to expand and improve the capacity of their Emergency Department. Following on from the successful completion of the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit and expansion of Resus in 2021, we were commissioned to develop the brief and scope for this project to enable realistic funding applications to be made.
Given the location of the scheme and the 24 hour nature of the department a number of options were developed from minimal interventions, to maximising objectives, and looking at a full scale decant rather than working in a phased approach.
A full feasibility report and option appraisal were produced with costed options and considerations of wider infrastructure works required to facilitate the scheme.
