In response to the significant financial challenges Nottinghamshire County Council currently faces, the County Council has approved the establishment of a comprehensive Improvement Programme that is designed to drive out inefficiency, target resources, minimise the impact on service delivery and create an organisation that is fit for purpose and financially sustainable in the longer term. The improvement programme is a four year plan to transform the way the County Council works to help deliver the Strategic Plan priorities.
One of the key strands of this programme is the investment into new Ways of Working. As part its improvement programme, Nottinghamshire County Council is developing a more strategic approach to its working environment and property portfolio in response to central government's improvement, efficiency and sustainability agenda.
The vision of the Ways of Working programme is to create and provide modern and efficient ways of working for employees of the County Council. It is concerned with the utilisation of office space which allows people to operate flexibly. It will provide working policies, modern styles and work space with equipment that motivates and enables staff to perform to their best and ultimately maximises the benefit to its customers and taxpayers. Flexible working is about providing the right work settings for the way County Council staff work in the future. By having modern flexible ways of working the County Council will be seen as an employer who places value on its employees by providing a working environment for staff that is fit for purpose. This has an impact on the reputation of the authority, along with staff retention and professionalism.
T.A.D. were commissioned by the design and build contractor, Kier Marriott, with whom we have developed strong working relationships, to develop the scheme from the initial business case statement above. Primarily the works involve the full internal refurbishment of Trent Bridge House and internal refurbishment of the majority of areas at County Hall.
