The last 12 months have presented some real challenges for all of us and not those we were expecting – anyone remember when all we used to talk about was Brexit…. For us one of the real benefits of the pandemic is that we are starting to see some real changes in the industry as the construction sector adapts and moves forward with new creative solutions to how we all work and deliver projects.
Here at T.A.D. we have met the challenges of the last 12 months head on. We are immensely proud of our team and the way they have pulled together, supporting the practice and each other, so that we are in a strong position now, with real optimism for the months ahead.
We are working differently now, the lockdown forcing us all to review and adapt our work life balance. There is still some fine tuning to do, to ensure we strike the right balance between; the need as designers to interact - talk, discuss ideas and collaborate; our mental health; and the benefits working from home can bring.
The need to do things differently during lockdown has also given us a number of opportunities to work further afield, undertaking projects at the other end of the M1, but in a much more efficient and productive manner than might previously have been possible. So, whilst the trips into central London during lockdown were needed and relatively pleasant, albeit surreal, during the quiet of lockdown, it was good to be able to meet Clients, Users and others virtually without the disadvantages of travelling to and from London.
This year also saw T.A.D. reach its 30th year as a private practice. We still have 2 Directors who remember (just) the transition from the Regional Health Authority to our first offices at the South West Centre in Sheffield. Whilst these last 12 monthshave given everyone plenty of time for reflection, we have had a greater reason to do so.
Looking back over those 30 years we have worked on 2,287 projects, working for 800 clients across the UK, from Plymouth and London in the South to Edinburgh in the north, the Isle of Man and Belfast in the West and Hull, Lincoln and Grimsby in the East. All of these projects have given the practice and our people a wealth of knowledge and experience in Healthcare, Housing and Education, but more importantly the projects have delivered great value for the people living and working in those cities and regions. and this is what continues to drive us and the practice forward.
We had planned to celebrate this year with a number of events to recognise the people, clients and businesses that have been part of the T.A.D. journey over the last 30 years, but we will have to hold off on some of these until our 31st year. So, to all of those who have worked with us, those we have worked for and businesses that have supported us in the last 30 years we would like to say a heartful thank you.
We look forward to future collaborations, relationships and projects with optimism.
